About

Kohaku
Kohaku (meaning 'amber') used to be a sweet and naive 11-years-old boy.
He was not suited to fight, and yet, being born as the taijiya village's chief son, he had to train hard for this.
His hands were still shaking when he got his first mission, together with his sister, father and companions.
They were doing fine killing the youkai, but his destiny was tragic from the start, and a youkai took control of his body, making him kill his father and companions and leaving a big scar on his sister's back while trying to kill her too.
He then dies because of the castle's guards' arrows, crying for the horrible thing he has done.
But there is no rest even for the dead, and the hanyou Naraku soon revives his body by putting a shard of the Shikon no Tama into his neck.
He lives again, but has no memories of his past, and is just a mere puppet in Naraku's hands.
He later regains his memories, but decides to kill Naraku by himself, not letting anyone know that he's got his memory back.

Sango
Sango (meaning 'coral') is a strong, determined and proud girl.
She’'s just 16 but she is already one of the best taijiyas of her village.
Not only isn't she able to stop her brother from killing his father and companions, but from injure her as well.
They both fall under a rain of arrows, but she doesn’t die.
She swears to take revenge on anyone who slaughtered her whole village, and Naraku tells her it was Inuyasha, while it was all Naraku's doing.
So he gives her a shard of the Shikon no Tama so that's she's able to fight Inuyasha even if she's injured.
But after fighting a bit, she realizes her mistake, and joins the Inu-tachi.
She eventually falls in love with the monk Miroku, and she even promises to bear his children.
She is always followed by her faithful nekomata, Kirara.

Their relationship
Sango has always been protective towards Kohaku, her precious little brother, even though she was sometimes harsh.
She's willing to do anything in order to bring him back and save him, and even if sometimes she gets depressed about not being able to do it, she always cheers up and rises from her ashes, just like a phoenix.
But she later starts to think that the only thing she can do to free him is killing him, but Inuyasha stops her and so she swears to find another way.
She often puts her life at risk when fighting Kohaku because she doesn't want to hurt him, or when she wants to save him.
But when he gains his memories, Kohaku's the one who doesn't want to put her in danger and so he doesn't tell her he remembers her, even if he would love to be together with her again, and even if he knows she's suffering a lot because of this.
In a way they're very similar, as they both want to keep the other one safe, even if it can be fatal to them, and they succeed to face their regrets by themselves and painful past by themselves.
They deeply love each other, and their story is probably the most tragical one of the whole serie.
(And it is the only thing that made me keep on reading Inuyasha for all this time, by the way :))
